"Spring is Coming - We Hope!"

It's the time of year when people often start to think of improvements they want to make to their homes. If you are planning a big project ( i.e.- remodeling, additions, finishing the basement, etc.) that could add considerable value to your home, be sure your "to do" list includes contacting your insurance agent to determine if the dwelling coverage amount on your Homeowner's Insurance Policy will adequately protect you after the project is completed. This is especially important if your policy includes guaranteed replacement cost for the dwelling, because it is a policy requirement that you notify the company if you significantly increase the value of your home. The time to find out about this is not after you have suffered a loss, so a little prior planning can save a lot of heartache after the fact.
